How I learned masonry and started here

I learned masonry under an old-school mason who made me tear out and relay any joint that wasn't right, and I still work by his rules. A mason's mistakes sit in plain view for years, so I'd rather take the time to get a joint right than hurry it.

I started Bedrock Tallahassee Masonry and Concrete here in Tallahassee in 2023. Most of our calls come from owners of older brick homes who want a wall, chimney or step repaired without spoiling the brick around it, and from people planning a new wall, walk or outdoor kitchen. My aim is the same on every job. I want a repair that lasts and doesn't harm the brick or stone beside it. You can see the full list of what we do on our home page.

What working with our crew is like

These are the things you'll notice when we work at your house. We're licensed and fully insured, and the rest comes down to who does the work and how carefully it's done.

  • The person who looks is the one who builds

I come out to look at your job myself, and I lay brick alongside the small crew I trained, so nothing gets lost between the estimate and the work. If a question comes up halfway through, you ask the same person you met at the start.

  • Repairs matched to your wall

We were trained the old way, so we take extra care with older brick and stone and match each repair to the wall it's going into. A patch that doesn't suit an old wall can stand out for years and can harm the brick around it, which is the opposite of what you called us for.

  • Plain answers about your job

I explain what I see and why I'd fix it a certain way, including what moves the price, such as how much brick needs replacing, how hard the wall is to reach and how closely new material has to match. Some things only show once a wall is opened, and I'll say so at the start rather than surprise you later.

What happens after you call us

Here's how a job with us usually runs, from the first call to the last joint, so you know who you'll be talking to and what comes next at each point.

  1. Call or send a message

Call (850) 391-6065 or use our contact page to tell us about your wall, walk or chimney. We answer calls and messages within one business day and set a time for me to come out.

  2. Meet me at your property

I look at the job myself and walk you through what I see and what I'd do. The estimate is free, done on site and carries no obligation, so you can take your time deciding.

  3. Get the permit sorted

Where a job calls for a permit, we help you find out which office handles your property and take care of the paperwork for our part. Inside city limits, the city's Building Inspection Division issues building permits.

  4. Watch the work come together

My crew and I do the work ourselves, giving each joint the time it needs, and we clean up before we leave. At the end we walk the finished job with you. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
